Dear Friends of Habitat for Humanity,
As winter approaches, the warmth and security of a home becomes even more essential. A home is more than just walls and a roof—it’s a foundation for stability, a place where families can build their futures with love and safety. It provides children with a warm place to grow and adults with a refuge from the cold. For many families in our community, a home is the cornerstone of hope and comfort during the harsh winter months.
In the Greater Harrisburg Area, too many families are still struggling to secure a safe and affordable place to live. For them, the approaching winter brings uncertainty and hardship.
This is where Habitat for Humanity steps in, driven by the belief that everyone deserves a decent place to call home. This past year, we served many families through our homeownership and home preservation program. That brings the total number of individuals served since our founding 40 years ago to 34 newly constructed homes, 41 rehabs, and over 300 critical home repairs. We continued to build homes in Steelton, PA as well as a rehab in Lemoyne, PA. We also continue to implement our Critical Home Repair program, which provides important repairs for current homeowners to ensure that they can continue to live safely and warm in their homes.
Together, we can make a profound impact. By supporting Habitat’s mission, the community is empowered to build more than just houses—we are building warmth, safety, and hope. Through partnerships, volunteers, and generous donations, we help families achieve the security and peace of mind that comes with homeownership.
As temperatures drop, your support is more critical than ever. Your gift today will help with weatherproof homes and ensure families stay warm and safe through the winter months. Here’s how your donation can make a difference:

In Support of Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area
Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area is a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Habitat is an ecumenical housing ministry with the goal of eliminating poverty housing.Unwilling to accept the fact that thousands of families live without adequate shelter, Habitat challenges and invites individuals, religious organizations of all faiths, companies, foundations, and other organizations to join with us to improve the living conditions of people existing in inadequate housing. In order to do that, Habitat creates a joint venture in which those who benefit from the housing contribute their labor in the form of “sweat equity hours” to the successful completion of the home.
