  • Behind the Build logo
  • Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area partnered with The National Ready Mix Concrete Association's (NRMCA) Build with Strength Coalition to construct a new affordable, low carbon home in Harrisburg utilizing insulated concrete forms (ICF's), a sustainable, noncombustible building system that reduced upfront construction expenses while maximizing the structure's durability and energy performance to save homeowner's long-term costs on utilities and insurance.

Community members, volunteers, local leaders, and media are invited to a "Behind the Build" event March 27th from 12-2 PM on the project site at 101 Locust Street, Steelton, to celebrate the many people and partners who have helped bring these homes to life.

In Support of Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area
Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Harrisburg Area is a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Habitat is an ecumenical housing ministry with the goal of eliminating poverty housing.Unwilling to accept the fact that thousands of families live without adequate shelter, Habitat challenges and invites individuals, religious organizations of all faiths, companies, foundations, and other organizations to join with us to improve the living conditions of people existing in inadequate housing. In order to do that, Habitat creates a joint venture in which those who benefit from the housing contribute their labor in the form of “sweat equity hours” to the successful completion of the home.
